South Asian Regional Pain Society (SARPS)

The society operated with the joint leadership of the Bangladesh Society for Study of Pain (BSSP), the Indian Society for Study of Pain (ISSP), and the Pakistan Society for Treatment and Study of Pain (STSP). The founding committee comprised President, Professor Kazi Mesbahuddin Iqbal, Secretary, Professor AKM Akhtaruzzaman, and executive members, Dr. Lutful Aziz and Professor Jonaid Shafiq (Bangladesh), Professor Syed Tipu Sultan and Professor Gauhar Afshan (Pakistan), Professor Geeta Joshi and Professor GP Dureja (India), and Dr Victor Adalbert John William Mendis (International Advisor). In 2018, the Sri Lanka Association for the Study of Pain (SLASP) and the Nepal Association for the Study of Pain (NASP) also joined SARPS. The South Asian Regional Pain Society (SARPS) was awarded an official status of Federation-in-formation of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP) on 6 March 2020.
